ViewLike.Us: Check Your Blog In Multiple Resolutions

ViewLike.us is an online application that lets you quickly test website in different resolutions. You simply need to enter website URL into provided field and click on the “Submit” button. Once the page loads, you can click different resolution tabs to view how the site looks.

Currently the app allows to preview te websites in almost all popular resolutions: 320×396, 800x 600, 1024×768, 1152×864, 1400×900, 1600×1200 and 1900×1200. The service requires no registration and got no usage limits.

The most common web browsing resolutions overall are 1024×768, 1152×864 and 1280×800 as these correspond to something like 60%-75% of all visitors depending the subject of your site and your main target public.

WYMeditor : Web-based XHTML editor

WYMeditor is a web-based WYSIWYM (What You See Is What You Mean) XHTML editor (not WYSIWYG).

WYMeditor's main concept is to leave details of the document's visual layout, and to concentrate on its structure and meaning, while trying to give the user as much comfort as possible (at least as WYSIWYG editors).

Closr.it : Zoom and Share your images for free

Closr.it is now open to the public by a few weeks. This open initiative enables users to freely store and share high-resolution images. Images are processed on the server and partitioned into tiles as much as Google Maps does for its aerial pictures.

The widgets also have some other useful functions, like a full-screen button, and another button that resets the photo to its starting size. There's minimal branding and excess junk attached to them, too, so they're not going to make your site look terrible when you embed them. If you have the particular problem of finding a way to display your large photos, Closr might be the solution.

The interface is quite simple as shown below; you can either load an image from your computer or directly using a URL link. The service is limited to original images under 300KB, but other than that it’s very quick and easy to use.

Once the image file has been selected, you can click on the optimize button, to get the results, if you wish to change the file format as well, use the drop-down menu to get the options as shown above, also you can use the checkbox in order to get all the results (this allows you to easily make the best choice, so that the optimized image you use doesn’t look very pixilated).

If you use a lot of images on your sites, they can slow down page loading times if you don’t optimize the images for website use. Adobe Photoshop is very expensive to buy just to optimize images, but luckily their are some good free online alternatives out there.

On the social side, I've found that people frequently comment on shots. It's fun to browse around and look at the shots other people are taking. I'm going to try to post at least one interesting shot per day and I'll try to comment on any interesting ones that I find.

Social Marker is a service designed to aid in the process of submitting websites and web pages to social bookmarking and social news sites like Delicious, Reddit, Digg and Stumbleupon to name a few. In a few days after it was launched in late 2007 it became one of the most used service of its kind mainly because satisfied people wrote about it and made a buzz.

Until now there were just a few changes made to the website in order to provide better experience for the users and some features have been added but feedback has been gathered and we are making plans to update SocialMarker and get users involved in the process.

CinePaint : A deep paint image retouching tool

CinePaint is a deep paint application that edits EXR, DPX, 16-bit TIFF, JPEG, PNG and many other types of image files. CinePaint is available as a native application for Linux, Mac OS X, and BSD. There's currently no Windows version.

Support for 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit color channels of deep paint.
High fidelity image file types such as DPX, OpenEXR and 16-bit TIFF. These files can't be opened in ordinary 8-bit image applications (e.g., GIMP) without crushing them.
High Dynamic Range. HDR images can go brighter than white. Ordinary images can't be brighter than a white sheet of paper (0=black, 1.0=white).
Gallery-quality printing. B&W photographs have only one color channel and degrade quickly when manipulated as 8-bit images. CinePaint has higher fidelity and offers a 16-bit printing path to the print-head using GutenPrint.

Clonezilla : OpenSource clone system

Clonezilla, based on DRBL, Partition Image, ntfsclone, partclone, and udpcast, allows you to do bare metal backup and recovery. Two types of Clonezilla are available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla SE (server edition). Clonezilla live is suitable for single machine backup and restore. While Clonezilla SE is for massive deployment, it can clone many (40 plus!) computers simultaneously. Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the harddisk. This increases the clone efficiency. At the NCHC’s Classroom C, Clonezilla SE was used to clone 41 computers simultaneously. It took only about 10 minutes to clone a 5.6 GBytes system image to all 41 computers via multicasting.

Features of Clonezilla :

Free (GPL) Software.

Filesystem supported: ext2, ext3, ext4, reiserfs, xfs, jfs of GNU/Linux, FAT, NTFS of MS Windows, and HFS+ of Mac OS. Therefore you can clone GNU/Linux, MS windows and Intel-based Mac OS, no matter it’s 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x86-64) OS. For these file systems, only used blocks in partition are saved and restored. For unsupported file system, sector-to-sector copy is done by dd in Clonezilla.
LVM2 (LVM version 1 is not) under GNU/Linux is supported.
Multicast is supported in Clonezilla SE, which is suitable for massively clone. You can also remotely use it to save or restore a bunch of computers if PXE and Wake-on-LAN are supported in your clients.
Based on Partimage, ntfsclone, partclone, and dd to clone partition. However, clonezilla, containing some other programs, can save and restore not only partitions, but also a whole disk.
By using another free software drbl-winroll, which is also developed by us, the hostname, group, and SID of cloned MS windows machine can be automatically changed.

Soungle : Download Sounds For Free

Soungle is a must have bookmark for any DJ, musician or music freak out there. It is a search engine that lets you search for free sound FX and musical instrument samples from their huge database. It lets you search, preview and download them.

Although it might sound weird to search for sound FX using text, it does work well. Searches are keyword based and upto 10 results are displayed per page. Every search result shows a play icon which previews that particular search result. The download button instantly starts downloading the sound effect. Each search result is accompanied by some details such as short description, frame rate, duration and bit rate.

Soungle is not an audio sound search engine, it only searches one huge constantly growing database.

Html Color Values

HTML colors are defined using a hexadecimal (hex) notation for the combination of Red, Green, and Blue color values (RGB). The lowest value that can be given to one of the light sources is 0 (hex 00). The highest value is 255 (hex FF). Hex values are written as 3 double digit numbers, starting with a # sign.

Colors may also be specified by six-character codes representing their relative red/green/blue (RGB) values, where the possible values for each color component are 00 to FF. 00 represent the least amount of the color present and FF represents the most of that color present. The first two bytes indicate the amount of red, the second two bytes represent the amount of green and the last two bytes represent the amount of blue.
